Business Breakfast to put Spotlight on Workplace Wellbeing
7 June 2017

Workplaces interested in improving staff wellbeing, engagement and productivity are invited to attend a free ‘Wellbeing in the Workplace’ business breakfast in Whakatāne on 22nd June.  There is a clear connection between the impact of work on our health, and of our health on our work, and so it is not surprising that successful workplaces go out of their way to support the health and wellbeing of their staff.

Dave Wood, Senior Health Improvement Advisor at Toi Te Ora – Public Health Service (Toi Te Ora) says, “Workplace wellbeing is about doing everyday business in a way that leads to improved staff wellbeing.”  He adds, “Investing in a positive, healthy workplace improves staff engagement, productivity and innovation, while also reducing stress, fatigue, injury and error.  The good news is, this can be done with little effort and budget.”

The Wellbeing in the Workplace business breakfast will showcase presentations from a range of local workplace wellbeing experts including Toi Te Ora, WorkSafe, Eastern Bay Primary Health Alliance, Healthy Families East Cape, Heart Foundation, and Sport Bay of Plenty.  “We will share how workplaces can create positive change in their workplace through offering workplace wellbeing initiatives,” says Dave.

“There is a range of great support available to workplaces in the Eastern Bay of Plenty to help develop workplace wellbeing programmes for little or no cost.  Toi Te Ora is excited to bring it all together in one workshop and welcome all workplaces, large and small, and all industries.”

Toi Te Ora delivers WorkWell, a free workplace wellbeing programme that offers step-by-step support and mentoring, easy to use resources, workshops, networking and recognition through accreditation.  WorkWell was initially developed for the Bay of Plenty and Lakes districts and due to its success is now available in various regions across New Zealand.

“We have also recently launched Good4Work which is an online interactive workplace wellbeing tool designed for small to medium sized businesses.”
